Blue & Green should never be seen?

I recently had someone in the Studio who mentioned that Blue & Green should never be seen! I stewed on this for a while and decided to see if this an actual saying people go by? Surely not!

The saying is “Blue & Green should never be seen without a colour in between”.

Design draws a lot of inspiration from nature with tones, textures, colours, patterns and finishes. Nature is full of various shades of beautiful blues and greens, and they compliment each other so beautifully.

Being on the same side of the colour wheel, these colours work in harmony instead of clashing, even without a colour in between.

I have always been drawn to these colours when designing and bringing the natural hues from the outdoors to the indoors. The right addition of blue or green, can make a space feel refined, relaxed and peaceful. Including subtle hints of these colours will bring depth, even to a fairly neutral palette. Being colours found in nature, we are accustomed to seeing these work harmoniously together all the time, which is why they evoke a sense of serenity.

As for the designs and projects we work on, I am a firm believer that Blue & green should be seen! Our Design Studio is a beautiful reflection of this being outworked.
