Function & Form

When updating the main lounge room we wanted to ensure this space felt light & bright yet served a purpose. This high-use and flow-through space needed to function yet feel relaxed and inviting at the same time.

Throughout the Design process we made the decision to remove a large built-in cabinet that separated the hallway and the lounge room zones. This opened up the space and allowed for a more purposeful layout as well. The addition of custom made - white linen sheer curtains softened the space and the darker stain on the timber floors anchors the room perfectly.

This home boasts sophistication through the finishes and tones, so we wanted to add a pop of colour into this family zone. The gallery wall helps relieve the vast space of the feature wall and helps to hide the frame tv. Given the feature wall is a walk-through passage with steps either side of the sofa that lead down into the room, we could not impede the room with a large or deep entertainment unit. Although it is a large room, we feel that by opening it up even further with the layout change, it just works!

Being a family home our client wanted to go with a leather option for the sofas. This creates a durable option for the kids, and the versatility of being white allows this room to be updated or the sofas to be moved into different zones down the track if needed. These wonderful sofas are from Plush. Here is how the look came together:
