Interior Tip: Bring natural elements into the home!

Nestled in the heart of The Fresh Federation House is a stunning stone fireplace. Being central in the main hub of the home, this dated piece needed to be finished in a way that created a real wow factor and by adding natural stone, we did just that!

As seen below:

1.

In the first image you can see how the space looked before we started the project. The fireplace was painted a navy blue to match the lounge room feature wall and was decorated with decor pieces and a collection of artworks. The fireplace also had a chainmail mesh cover that you pulled open and closed, utilised to keep wood logs from rolling out.

2.

The middle image shows the space after the first coat of darker floor stain had gone down, the fireplace had been sheeted with a heavy duty exterior board to hold the weight of the stone, and the kitchen was mid-installation. Already by removing the chainmail from the fireplace and getting rid of the navy blue accent, the space felt light and bright.

3.

The right hand image was taken as we began to bring furniture pieces into the space and the crazy-pave stone was almost finished being installed. The beautiful stone surrounds the entire fireplace, truly creating a central feature of the home by bringing natural elements into the sophisticated space. We didn't update the brick interior or the existing tile hearth as these finishes did not detract from the stone finish and they were in good condition.

The design of the home encompasses both warm natural tones as well as grey and cool tone features throughout, so the choice of stone reflects these perfectly and the finished product is a masterpiece.

Bringing in natural elements such as stone, different timber finishes and fresh foliage will transform a space into a warm and peaceful environment.
